ABOUT
THE EDITOR'S:
1. Dr. K. Vanangamudi, born on 05.08.1953 in Malayadipatti, Mettur (TK),
Salem, is the Dean (Agriculture), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore,
Tamil Nadu, India, a Seed Scientist has 24 years of experience in the field of
UG and PG teaching, research and extension service. He was a postdoctoral fellow
at Mississippi State University, USA during 1989-90. He obtained Ph. D in 1981
from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. His area of specialization includes
forest seed technology and quality seed production. He has carried out extensive
research in the areas of tree seed improvement and agricultural crops. He has
authored 16 books in English and 30 books in Tamil and published 35 research
papers in International Journals & Newsletters and 136 in National Journals. He
has presented 163 papers in various National and International conferences and
seminars and published 82 popular articles in English and Tamil. He has also
contributed several book chapters in refereed books. He has developed
technologies for seed production, processing, storage and seed testing for few
Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry Crops. He has obtained principle
acceptance for assistance from Ministry of Food Processing to start B Tech (Food
Processing Engineering) at Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College. Also Started
Diploma in Value Added Products from fruits and vegetables along with IGNOU at
Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College. He has excellent research experiences by
heading eight research projects as a Principal Investigator funded by various
National and International agencies. He was the Project Head for Training
programme for Self Help Groups at Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College. As a
teacher he offered several courses in Agricultural and Forestry Sciences and
guided 17 Ph. D. and 10 M. Sc. students. He is a recognized guide of Bharathiar
University, Coimbatore, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Periyar
University, Salem and Forest Research Institute, Deemed University, Dehradun. He
was also a consultant of Kerala Forestry Project. He has developed Fourtraining
modules (course content & training manual both soft and hard copy) for National
Seed Research & Training Centre, (Ministry of Agriculture) Varanasi has been
adopted for conducting training in seed production, management and certification
at National level. He has travelled to U.S.A., Japan, Canada and U.K. in
connection with forest research and education. In recognition of his outstanding
contribution, he has been awarded with 'Best Post graduate Teacher Award' in
1998, Best Scientist Award in Agro-Forestry' in 1'999and 'Madras Agricultural
Students Best Teacher Award for Post Graduate Programme' in 2000, 'Best Seed
Scientist Award' in 2003 from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisarand 'Best
Research Paper Award' in 2005 from Indian Society of Seed Technology, New Delhi
and Tamil Nadu Scientist Award (TANSA) in the field of Agricultural Sciences for
the year 2006 from Tamil Nadu State Council of Science and Technology, Tamil
Nadu.
2. Dr. K. Natarajan, Assistant Professor of Seed Science and Technology,
Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College, Kalavai, Vellore District, Tamil Nadu,
India. He has published 9 research papers in International and National Journals
and 9 popular articles. He has also presented 43 research papers in National
Seminars and Conferences. He has specialized in flower seed production.
