ABOUT THE BOOK: India has been a source of rich amount of the medicinal plant wealth. The efficacy of Indian medicinal plants, particularly of those growing in temperate and alpine Himalayas is fairly well known. Many life-saving drugs are being prepared from different parts of the plants. Indian system of Medicine alone has identified 1500 medicinal plants, of which 500 species are commonly used in preparation of herbal drugs.
In the present book 'Multifacial Applications of Drug Plants', various aspects of drug plants and their uses in various diseases are discussed. Most of the contributions are on the Conservation and Management of Medicinal Plants, Traditional and Ethnobotanical Uses of Important Plants in different parts of the country, particularly in Uttarakhand. Some of the aspects on Intellectual Property Rights and Medicinal Plant Biodiversity Conservation are also discussed. An Integrated approach for proper utilization of medicinal plants is also given. This is hoped the book will serve as a guide for conservation, cultivation and utilization of plant wealth in a proper way for the benefits of human beings.

ABOUT THE EDITOR'S:
1. Prof. D.R. Khanna, Ph.D. FIAES, FASEA, FNC, FZSI, FSES is Professor in Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri Vishwa-vidyalaya, Haridwar. He is well known Limnologist and has published about 80 research papers and articles in national and international journals of repute. He has edited 6 books and authored 10 books. Dr. Khanna is Editor of Environment Conservation Journal and Associate editor of various journals. He was awarded ASEA excellence award. Nature conservators Impetus Gold medal and Bharat Jyoti award.
2. Prof. A. K. Chopra, Head, Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar did his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Lucknow University, Lucknow. He started his career in 1977 as lecturer and since has never looked back. He has to his credit over 100 research papers in national and international journal of repute. He has written about 30 articles and authored 4 books. Prof. Chopra was awarded several prestigious awards for his outstanding contribution in the field of life science and environmental science.
3. Prof. G. Prasad, Professor in Department of Botany and Microbiology, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, obtained his M.Sc. degree from Kanpur University and Ph.D. degree from Kurukshetra University. Dr. Gupta has published nearly 50 research papers in foreign and Indian journals of International repute. He has edited two books. He has been awarded fellow of Action for sustainable efficacious development and awareness.
4. Dr. D.S. Malik, Ph.D., FNC, FASEA, is Reader in Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri vishvavidyalaya, Haridwar. He is a well-known researcher and academician in the field of Biodiversity Resource Conservation. He has published about 60 research papers and edited six books. Dr. Malik is executive editor of Journal Aquacult. He has been awarded ASEA Young Scientist Award, Nature Conservators, Paryavaran Award and Nature Conservators Impetus Gold Medal.
5. Dr. R. Bhutiani, FASEA, is Lecturer in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. Currently he is doing research in the field of limnological modeling. Dr. Bhutiani has authored/edited six books. He is associate editor of Environment Conservation Journal. He has published about 25 research papers and 5 articles in national and International Journals of repute. He has been awarded two junior young scientist awards for best research paper and appreciation award 2006.
6. Dr. Anil Kumar Dhiman, M.Sc. Ph.D., FBS, FES, FUWAI, is working as Information Scientist in Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar. He has to his credit 25 books and about 80 papers. He has attended various seminars in Botany and Library Science and also had been the member of organizing committee of seminars and conferences of national reputes. He is awarded APSI Gold Medal & Young Scientist Award in 1999 and Glory of India International Award in the year 2006.
